Turmeric Spiced porridge
The Dish
Turmeric spiced porridge
Best for: Breakfast
Serves: 2
Prep time: 5mins
Cook time: 10-15mins
This porridge takes a little longer to make because it allows the spices to infuse into the milk for a while. But I like to make a big batch of the milk and then use it over my granola, or to make spiced birtcher muesli with. The flavor of this porridge is SO worth the wait. The mix of the spices alongside of the sweet dates makes you want the bowl to never end. I like to top this porridge with banana slices and a drizzle of honey or agave.
The Recipe
Step 1
Add the cashew milk into a saucepan with the cloves, bay leaf and cinnamon stick. Cook on a medium heat for around 15 minutes to allow the flavor to infuse into the creamy cashew milk.
Step 2
Remove the cloves, bay leaf and cinnamon stick from the milk and add the remaining ingredients and constantly stir, still on a medium heat. The mixture should start to thicken up, allow it to cook for around 10-15 mins until all the liquid has been absorbed and the oats are soft forming a thick and creamy porridge.
Step 3
Add more water to acquire the desired consistency; I like my porridge super thick.
