Not only to these aesthetically elevate a dish, but the will really enhance your food. Great for sandwiches, salads or bbq’s.
The onions are sweet, yet sharp with the perfect amount of crunch to them, enriching every bite.
The Recipe
Step 1
Cut the onions in half and then slice into fry fine strips.
Step 2
If you have a boiling hot water tap, place the onions in a sieve and run them under a hot tap for 30 seconds. If not, boil a pan of water, remove from the heat and add the onions to the water for 30 seconds. This will remove the bitterness from the onions. Remove the onions from the water and put in a bowl.
Step 3
In a different pan add the vinegar, sugar, salt and 200ml of water and bring to the boil. Gently boil for around a minute until all the sugar has dissolved.
Step 4
Pour the vinegar water over the onions, they will instantly start turning pink. It will take around 5-10 mins for the full colour to develop.
Store in the fridge in an airtight container.
